Synopsis: The definitive screwball comedy, My Man Godfrey follows the madcap antics of a wealthy and eccentric family when they hire a down-and-out “forgotten man†as their butler. My Man Godfrey features brilliant performances by Carole Lombard and William Powell, and was the first film to receive Academy Award™ nominations in all four acting categories.

Simply a must-see if you value comedy films in any way, especially if you already know how many of them came from the 1930's. Don't miss. The Criterion Collection dvd of this film is the ONLY one that's out there with excellent sound and picture, since Criterion remastered it from the negative...not just transferred it slapdash to disc. ALL other company's versions dishonor this fine comedy, that has unfortunately fallen into the public domain; don't spend a dime on those "budget" releases, they are the worst! Spend the time and money to find this version only -- you'll be happy you did. Now...if only Criterion will do the same for Life With Father, another William Powell comedy that's crying out for a quality presentation.
