(1 out of 1 people agreed with this review) donservo, United States of America (Reviewer Ranking: 15) wrote this review on February 4, 2005: While the DVD itself is nearly impossible to find (used copies sell for over $100), it's worth a viewing. Mystery Science Theater 3000: The Movie, though a bit tame for fans of the TV show, is quite funny and a worthwhile introduction to the series. The movie itself is quite short (less than 75 minutes), so the necessary removal of material from the source film "This Island Earth" makes things seem a bit jumpy. The jokes themselves, while funny in their own right, are tamer than MSTies are used to (due to the studio's insistence on replacing some of the more obscure lines with more "accessible" gags)... The DVD transfer of the movie is quite good, with impressive audio and video clarity. The disc lacks any extras or subtitles whatsoever, though the latter can be forgiven given the challenge of coherently subtitling a movie with three persistent voice-overs. In summary: good movie, good DVD (despite scarcity and lack of extras).
