Synopsis: Divorced and discredited American anthropologist Dempsey arrives in Scotland to debunk the legend of the Loch Ness lake monster. The scientific mission soon turns into much more. The charm of the small town and Dempsey's dealings with various locals -- innkeeper Laura, her young daughter Isabel, the local water bailiff (Ian Holm) and research assistant Adrian Foote -- all help steer him in a positive new direction.
