Rising Star
Vered (Ofra Haza), a blind orphan with the voice of an angel, ekes out a living as a cigarette vendor in the slums of Jaffa. An unlikely encounter with a sympathetic street gang earns Vered an eye operation - and jail time for her benefactors. Unaware of their misfortune, she mistakes the first man she sees as her savior, who, as fate would have it, holds the key to her success. At the height of her singing career, she hears voices from the past calling out, awakening dormant emotions that will change her destiny.
