Synopsis: Lena Horne makes her feature film debut as singing sensation Ethel Andrews whose childhood sweetheart Duke Davis (Ralph Cooper) has invested all his savings into their show business career. When New York talent scout George Marshall (Monte Hawley) offers Ethel a chance at a solo career, Duke reluctantly agrees to let her go. Heartbroken, Ethel leaves with Marshall and becomes an overnight sensation. Meanwhile, Duke's act flounders and he must find work with a medicine show. He too finds success, but drops everything and rushes to Ethel's side when he hears that her latest show has flopped.
