Synopsis: After her second miscarriage, Paula Rogers learns she is sterile. On the way to a reception for her professor husband, John, a distraught Paula accidentally hits an orphan with her car. Thinking Paula is drunk, farmer Raymond Bascom takes the boy to the hospital. Unwilling to confess her role in the hit-and-run for fear of derailing John's career, Paula volunteers at the hospital and helps Davey recover without admitting her guilt.
