Synopsis: Following her mother's accidental death, aspiring dancer Sara (Stiles) moves from her mother’s home in a small Vermont town to her father’s apartment in a run-down area of Chicago. When she meets Derek (Thomas), a popular black student with a love of music and dance (and a checkered past), she falls in love and re-discovers her love for dancing. But will her newfound love allow her to get over the loss of her mother?
