Synopsis: Henry Fonda, Fred MacMurray and Sylvia Sidney play the leading roles in this well-crafted adaptation of John Fox Jr.'s 1908 novel about a love triangle and a long-running feud between two Appalachian families. The movie's real stars, however, are the lush outdoor scenes -- the first to be filmed in Technicolor outside a studio setting. Other highlights include cowboy sidekick Fuzzy Knight crooning two ballads.
