Painted Veil, The
Anxious to see another world outside of her native Austria, Katrin Koerber, the daughter of a medical professor, marries British bacteriologist Walter Fane and moves with him to Hong Kong. There, however, Walter's dedication to his work leaves Katrin lonely and bored, and she is soon courted by dashing British attaché Jack Townsend. Although surprised by Jack's advances, Katrin admits she is not in love with Walter and begins a dangerous affair.
