Royal Scandal, A
Known for taking on a succession of lovers, Russian empress Catherine the Great begins a romance with dashing young military officer Lt. Alexei Chernoff. Alexei's fiancée, Countess Anna Jaschikoff, is understandably none too pleased about this, but supports her sweetheart's advancement. Meanwhile, Chancellor Nicolai Ilyitch disapproves of the whole affair, and spars with Catherine about the ill-advised issue.
