Synopsis: In the 1960s, Jesse Owens is accused of tax evasion. So court-appointed investigator Lew Gilbert takes a look into Owens' back story. What he finds is a life full of both adversity and triumph. As a young man, Owens faces racism on a daily basis, but eventually teams up with white coach Charles Riley and pushes his way into the 1936 Olympics. There, he triumphs in the face of Hitler and serves as a beacon for black America.
