Synopsis: In 1958, baseball star Roy Campanella nearly loses his life in a car crash. Although lucky to be alive, the accident leaves him paralyzed, without any hope of ever playing ball again. Emotionally shattered by the event, Campanella grows resentful of his plight, pushing away his wife, Ruthie, and son, David. But with the help of a dedicated physical therapist, Sam Brockington, Campanella begins to brighten his outlook on life.
