Synopsis: Studio-publicist-turned-producer Pete Smith catapulted to national fame as a narrator for the MGM short subjects created under his aegis, such as the Dogville comedies. Recognizing that Smith was now a name in comedy in his own right, MGM launched the Pete Smith Specialty series. Over the next two decades, Smith lent his signature arch comedic tone to short subjects ranging from animal antics to home-life advice from the L.A. Examiner's Prudence Penny to Football Thrills to What's Your I.Q.? quiz shows, as well as the occasional sober serious topics.
