Synopsis: Serial divorcée Hilda Crane returns to the town where she went to college and begins a new romance with her old flame Russell Burns, much to the chagrin of his abusive mother, Mrs. Burns. When Mrs. Burns dies of a heart attack, her death casts a long shadow over their relationship. Soon Hilda embarks on an affair with her beloved former professor, Jacques De Lisle, that threatens to destroy her latest attempt at marriage.
