Synopsis: This collection of eight independent vignettes presents a cross-section of America, circa 1951. Elderly Mrs. Riordan is crestfallen when she learns that she was not counted in the census. Stefan, a Hungarian immigrant with a grudge against Greeks, objects when his daughter, Rosa, marries Greek-American Icarus. And a cowboy named Texas gives his assessment of the state he shares a name with.
