Synopsis: Desperate to leave behind the poverty of her home life, pretty Jessie Cassidy pushes her boyfriend, Eddie, to marry her. Eddie then convinces Jessie to work as a showgirl to support them until he can find work. Oblivious to Eddie's shiftless nature, Jessie complies. Months later, at a party thrown for the show by shipping tycoon John Hennessy, the still-unemployed Eddie notes John's attraction to Jessie and makes a shocking proposal to his wife.
