This episode of the documentary series details British Field Marshal Bernard Montgomery's disastrous 1944 Operation Market Garden through archival footage and in-depth coverage of the operation's strategies, weapons and key figures. Meant to end World War II, the plan instead wiped out the British 1st Airborne and left Germany in control of key areas near the Rhine River. The failed operation was the subject of the classic film A Bridge Too Far.
