Synopsis: Using rare photos and period footage, as well as interviews with the trains' passengers and workers, this documentary tracks the rise of the American streamliner trains of the 1930s and '40s. Fueled by a compact diesel engine and able to whiz down the rails at 100 mph, the trains captured the public's imagination -- and brought big profits to the men behind them -- but their decline was swift, as the industry was overshadowed by autos and planes.
