Synopsis: Filmed in the savage landscape of the Sahara, this documentary examines the history of a region at the center of epic battles and on the margins of the known world. From the caravans bearing riches across the desert to Roman death squads and the French Foreign Legion, this program covers the people and conflicts that have shaped the region. Also included are "Biography" episodes on two legendary men of the desert: T.E. Lawrence and Erwin Rommel.
