Synopsis: This adaptation of Thomas Mann's acclaimed novel begins when Hans Castorp (Christopher Eichorn), son of a distinguished Hamburg family, visits his cousin in a Swiss sanatorium. After falling ill, Hans is also admitted to the asylum, where he remains isolated for seven long years. When he finally leaves to fight in the Great War, Hans experiences life for the first time.
