Synopsis: Former Canadian Prime Minister Tom McLaughlin (Paul Gross) appears to take it in stride when Canada votes to dissolve and become part of the U.S.A. But Tom has other plans for those he sees as having stolen his country out from under him - including hawkish U.S. Present Stanfield (Tom Skerritt). Backed by a secret cabre of Europe's "Big Three" moneymen, McLaughlin schemes to run as an independent candidate for the U.S. presidency so he can subvert American policy from within. His plan seems assured until veteran British journalist Helen Madigan (Greta Scacchi) gets in the way.
