Synopsis: Louisville, Kentucky - the birth place of Muhammad Ali and home to the Kentucky Derby played host to the 37th staging of the Ryder Cup. The US team, led by Paul Azinger, were coming off three successive defeats. It was crucial they stop the streak. But Europe, captained by Nick Faldo - Europe's all time points record holder - looked to be favorites. Faldo's team, a blend of experience and youth, seemed more than match for an American side that contained six rookies.
