Brother Marstroke of Hermitage of St. Justinian the Martyr has turned to Sherlock Holmes (Matt Frewer, The Royal Scandal) to investigate the ghastly crime. An Anglican monk has been found dead in the abbey, the apparent victim of a vampire. The death has a horrifying resonance for Marstroke. Years before, an outbreak of rabies took its toll on his mission in British Guyana. Believing the bats were responsible, Marstroke ordered them all destroyed. Then two monks were found dead, bearing the bite marks of a vampire. What's more, at each crime scene were macabre messages from Desmodo, a legendary vampire demon swearing to avenge the death of "his children."
