Synopsis: First introduced in Harlem on the Prairie (1937), singing cowboy Bob Blake (Herb Jeffries) is framed for the murder of his boss, John Steele (Tom Southern). In order to clear his name, Bob escapes and travels eastward, ending up in Harlem. There he meets preacher-turned-gangster The Deacon (Herb Jeffries in a dual role), to whom he bears a striking resemblance. Bob assumes the Deacon's identity and heads back west to infiltrate the gang responsible for the murder.
