From Sylwester Checinski, the director of Calls Controlled, Our Folks tells the story of two quarreling families who were resettled from Kresy to the regained territories after WWII. Much to their dismay, Pawlak and Kargul discover that they have been resettled on neighboring farms. When Pawlaks son and Karguls daughter fall for each other, the families realize they are living their own version of Romeo and Juliet.
A beloved classic, Our Folks remains a favorite among the Polish movie-going public. A museum in Lubomierz features a museum dedicated to Our Folks and its two spin-offs, Take It Easy and Big Deal, and Turan boasts a statue of the two main heroes, Kargul and Pawlak.
