Gabriel Kaplan stars as Kotter, a graduate of a tough Brooklyn high school who returns to teach a classroom of underachieving "sweathogs"-Epstein, Washington, Horshack, and leader-of-the-pack Vinnie Barbarino, played by rising star John Travolta.
Highlights include the sweathogs vs. advanced students, Vinnie's doomed attempt to prepare for the priesthood, Kotter busting up a rumble, the sweathogs mothering mother-to-be Mrs. Kotter, Horshack's religious conversion, and Vinnie's guilt trip when he thinks he's caused an unpopular teacher's death.
