Synopsis: It all began in 1979 at the height of the aerobic dance craze, when Anna and Cynthia Benson, along with Mark Henriksen, opened the first FIRM studio in South Carolina. By combining aerobics and weight training, the FIRM founders recognized that people could burn fat, build muscle and get the bodies they wanted safely, effectively and quickly. This revolutionary aerobics-plus-weight-training fitness hybrid formed the basis for The FIRM method then and is still central to The FIRM philosophy today.
