Synopsis: Directed by Okamoto Kihachi (Sword Of Doom), and based on a true historical event, Samurai Assassin stars Mifune Toshiro (Seven Samurai, Yojimbo) in one of his greatest roles. Niiro Tsuruchiyo is a masterless samurai-a ronin-desperate for a last chance to gain a position with one of the great houses. To curry favor, he joins an assassination plot against a Shogunate Elder. Fate, which has dealt him many cruel blows throughout his life, has one more surprising revelation for him as he waits, sword in hand, outside the gates of Edo Castle. It is March 3, 1860, and the snow is gently falling.
