Dornröschen
On the occasion of their daughter's birth, the king and queen celebrate a great feast. Twelve faries are invited, who imbue the child with all virtues. But since the king despises diligence, he has not invited the thirteenth fairy, that of diligence. Nevertheless, she enters the castle and wishes for Dornröschen's death. The twelfth fairy changes the curse. Dornröschen is to fall asleep for 100 years, when she pricks herself on a spindle on her 15th birthday. Thei king banishes all spindles from his realm, dooming his working subjects to poverty. But one spindle has been forgotten, and the fairy's curse is fulfilled. The entire castle falls asleep. When a young prince comes along to awaken Dornröschen, the thirteenth fairy puts him to the test.
