Synopsis: Life is anything but sweet when roaming gunfighter Tom Early returns home. His wife has died, and his son now barely speaks to him. Things aren't much different in town, where Early tangles with the posse of a cattle baron who vows to run a herd of 20,000 roughshod through the settlers' land. Early must somewhat reluctantly play the role of defender, especially after a foolhardy plan by the local preacher goes awry.
