Extraordinary Birds is an amazing collection of episodes from the long-running public television documentary series "Nature", focusing especially on the glories, trials, and tribulations of birds undergoing their daily struggle to survive. The hour-long episodes range from a feature about hummingbirds - extraordinary, tiny creatures who feed on nectar and insects, and are capable of incredible migratory feats; raptors, predatory birds whose amazing talents for thermal soaring (vultures), high-speed diving (peregrine falcons), or silent flying (owls) have been studied for inspiration to create military aircraft; parrots, the social birds of extraordinary intelligence who can bond with their owners as closely as a dog and much more.
