Ghosts On The Loose
The East Side Kids Meet Bela Lugosi in this hilarious horror-comedy featuring the lovely young Ava Gardner, later and Academy Award® nominee for Mogambo, in one of her earliest roles. Mugs McGinnis, Glimpy Williams and the boys are preparing for the wedding of Glimpy's sister Betty and Jack Gibson, who have just bought an old country house. Planning to surprise the couple fixing up the place, the boys accidentally end up at the "haunted" house next door, where Nazi spy Emil and his gang are printing propaganda booklets for the "New Order." Directed by the legendary William "One Shot" Beaudine, this 1943 Monogram entry was the second encounter between Bela and the Kids, following 1941's Spooks Run Wild.
