Synopsis: The late Leslie Cheung (The Bride With White Hair, Farewell, My Concubine, Temptress Moon) stars in this beautifully photographed and mesmerizing tale set in 1930's Shanghai. An American doctor is sent to help a seriously ill man (Cheung). By doing so, however, he becomes entangled in the struggle between the Nationalists and the Communists for control of China, as the man is actually a prominent Communist leader on the run.
